: I would like any and all info I can get...pros and cons of camping vs. rentals?
: Thanks in advance.
Wife and I rented a villa on Gifft Hill in Sept. and visited the campground at Cinimon Bay. We enjoyed the villa far more then we would have enjoyed camping. The villa allowed us to commune with nature when we wanted to on hikes and when we snorkeled and then we could return to the villa to relax in our own private pool and watch the sun set over St Thomas. The villa also let us cook many of our meals and sleep in air-conditioned comfort. It is not that we never camp but for me camping is reserved for when we visit a place where there are no other alternatives, like the Boundry Waters of Canad or backpacking in the White Mountains of New hampshire. If there are enough of you a villa can be reasonably priced as well. Now we visited in the off season and rented a villa that could sleep 6 - 9 people for $1540 for a week (that's $25 to $37 per person per night). The villas also had a pool, jacuzzi full kitchen, gas grill, washing machine and dryer, cable TV/VCR and a huge deck with fantastic views of Great Cruz Bay and St. Thomas.
