: Am considering a trip to St. John's during November. Am curious as to whether the ferries accomodate vehicles as well as pedestrians (i.e., can you rent a car in St. John's and use it in St. Thomas). Please advise.... Thanks!
There is a car ferry between St John and St Thomas. I believe it is about $40. I don't know if that is one way or round trip. However, you would need to check with your car rental place to see if you can take their vehicle from one island to the other. I was under the impression that this was not possible but have seen postings that indicated certain rental agencies let you do it. Normally the car ferry is used by residents taking their own cars. Make sure you check and, if in doubt, get it in writing.
